A little over a year ago, we posted about a lake house reno project we took on in Hopatcong, New Jersey. At the time, we were in the design phase of the architectural process.
The property is located in a cove that manages to stay calm and peaceful in the summer months, a rarity at this popular lake. But the original home left a lot to be desired. Over the years, it had undergone several ill-conceived and poorly constructed renovations, which obstructed many of the picturesque views of the lake and created several dark interior spaces.
We were brought in to transform the poorly designed lakefront home into a dream vacation retreat while working within a limited budget. You can read more about our design changes here.
We’re happy to report that the home renovation is nearly complete thanks to the hard work of the builder-owner, who has been updating the house himself as time allowed — around his paying jobs!
Our involvement during construction (even with a builder-owner!) ensured that unforeseen conditions were addressed quickly and that the design intent was maintained. As you can see, the transformation has been dramatic.
